In general, we can convert 2 general types of videos: camcorder cartridges and film.
Camcorder cartridges
Monarch Digital converts virtually any type of camcorder tape into DVD, including VHS, BetaMax, VHS-C, 8mm cartridges, DV (Digital Video) tape and more. All of our straight-over conversions are unedited. For some media types, we can measure the amount of footage on each tape. Each DVD can hold up to 2 hours of footage. We can combine multliple tapes on to a single DVD as separate chapter. We will print the DVD title or chapters on the face of the DVD.
We can optionally print a photo on the face of the DVD or design a DVD label for special events. All work is done in our studio; your media never leaves our offices. None of our DVD's have any copy protection, so you can make your own copies or copy the footage to your computer.
Straight over conversions cost $30 for each 2 hour DVD. If you have more than 3 tapes on a DVD, each additional tape costs $5. Turnaround time depends on our current queue. Many times, smaller jobs are complete the next business day.
8mm and 16mm film
Unlike many who would film the project image from a screen, we capture your film by shooting your film directly into the lens of our capturing cameras. From there, we enhance your footage, title it and chapter the DVD. The footage often looks better than the original as we are often able to enhance colors, remove unintelligible footage, and bring out images from poor footage. We can now capture 16mm film with sound. We will use a photo you supply to be printed on the face of the DVD and the main menu.
We will keep your footage on our editing systems for 3 months after we give you your DVD. During that time, you can optionally give us edits such as changing title names, reordering footage, removing footage, adding footage or stills, adding music, adding narration, adding animations and more.
To prepare for your conversion project, you might want to chronologically order your film by sequentially numbering the reels. You could optionally print the title of the reel on the box.
