The opening paragraph carries the argument in one or two sentences, so a reader who stops here still leaves with the point.

Body copy runs at a reading measure with a live margin to its left and a rail to its right, so emphasis has somewhere to go other than down the middle of the page. These paragraphs exist to show rhythm rather than to say anything.

1. A numbered step, written as one sentence so it does not read as a bold label followed by an explanation.
2. The numeral hangs outside the measure, in the margin, rather than sitting in a bulleted column.
3. Steps earn the format when the items are genuinely sequential. When they are not, prose is the honest choice.
