Children reading books in a school library

A school families can navigate in either language.

Honor Preparatory Charter School is a tuition-free public charter in Charlotte where kids learn in English and Spanish every day, starting in kindergarten.

A remarkable school hiding behind a template.

By the end of elementary school, Honor Prep students read, write and think in two languages. That opens doors most kids never get, and they get it at five instead of trying to catch up at twenty-five.

The old website showed none of that. It was a template full of stock photos, slow, and so hard to maintain that the staff mostly stopped trying. You couldn’t tell what made the school different, or who worked there.

Built around the real school

Every photo on the new site is Honor Prep’s own kids and classrooms. The teachers are on it too, with their names and where their families come from. Parents want to know who will spend the day with their child, and a stock photo can’t answer that.

Immersion, in plain language

Dual-language immersion is new to a lot of families. We explained it the way a teacher would at the kitchen table: how much of the day is in each language, what kindergarten looks like and why it works. A parent who has never heard the term understands it in a minute.

Every page leads to the tour

Families make up their minds on the Friday tour, so every page points there. Enrollment is laid out in three plain steps that work on a phone, because that’s where most parents start, usually between dinner and bedtime.

And the staff can now update the site themselves, from the calendar to the news.
